Free Classes from Kids Teach Tech
Saturday, October 1st from 11am-4:30pm
Click on the red buttons below to apply for our free Scratch or Python Programming classes at Livermore Civic Center Library. We use this quick application process for these popular classes, so that we can limit class sizes to provide individual attention for each student. All applicants will receive a follow up email with an application status on whether you are confirmed or waitlisted for the class.

Classes will be held in person in the Community Rooms in Livermore Civic Center Library located at 1188 South Livermore Avenue in Livermore, California. Create a Moving Sprite - Scratch
In Person / Livermore Civic Center Library / Saturday, October 1st @ 11:00am - 11:45am PST
Students ages 8 and up learn essential programming concepts with Scratch, a platform developed at MIT. Using drag and drop in a simple block-like interface, students can make a character move in specific ways with colorful visuals. No experience is required. Ages 8-16 (Grades 3-11)

Making Newton's Apple - Scratch
In Person / Civic Center Library / Saturday, October 1st @ 12:00pm - 1:00pm PSTThis class is for students ages 8 and up who want to learn beginning programming concepts with Scratch. Students will create a simple game to catch a bouncing apple. Our Introduction to Scratch Programming Classes or basic understanding of Scratch is recommended as a prerequisite to this class. Ages 8-16 (Grades 3-11)

Snakes and Berries Game - Scratch
In Person / Civic Center Library / Saturday, October 1st @ 1:30pm - 2:45pm PSTStudents ages 9 and up learn intermediate Scratch programming to create a moving sprite and turn it into a game where the user controls a snake which travels around and eats berries. Our Introduction or Beginning Scratch Programming Classes or basic understanding of Scratch is recommended as a prerequisite to this class. Ages 9-16 (Grades 4-11)

Space Destroyer - Scratch
In Person / Civic Center Library / Saturday, October 1st @ 3:00pm - 4:30pm PSTStudents 10 and up learn principles that they can use in other programming projects. Students develop a Space Destroyer Game for a final project using advanced Scratch Programming. Our Snakes and Berries Intermediate Scratch Programming Class or equivalent is recommended as a prerequisite to this class. Ages 10-16 (Grades 5-11)

Introduction to Computer Science - Python
In Person / Civic Center Library / Saturday, October 1st @ 11:00am - 2:30pm PST with 30 minute breakStudents learn the fundamentals of Computer Science from the ground up using Python for hands-on exercises. Topics covered include discussion of popular programming languages and what they are best used for, as well as explanation of core computer concepts like data types, data structures, variables, loops, functions, conditional statements, and more. No experience required. Ages 12-18 (Grades 7-12)

Build a Calculator - Python
In Person / Civic Center Library / Saturday, October 1st @ 3:00pm - 4:30pm PSTStudents ages 12 and up learn the basics of coding in Python, and then build a working calculator. Our Introduction to Computer Science class is recommended as a prerequisite to this class. Ages 12-18 (Grades 7-12)
